Mezzoracolo table or floor lamp by Italian architect Gae Aulenti, executed by Artemide. This is the smaller version, but it is still 67 cm high. The larger version is named Oracolo, and the height of this lamp is 140 cm.
A large white globe in opal glass sits atop a dark cylindrical brown-coated metal base. The light switch is clearly original as is made of the same material as the base of the lamp. As it is rather robust, it is also the cause of a tiny scratch and a small dent in the base of the lamp (both are nevertheless not too visible).
The lamp is described in ‘Repertorio del Design Italiano 1950-2000’ by Giuliana Gramigna on Page 164 (1969).
